hollow 與 hole做洞講時(shí)有區(qū)別嗎
■判斷詞義要從它關(guān)聯(lián)的其他意思來區(qū)分.
hollow作為形容詞時(shí),含有這幾種意思:"空的,中空的,凹陷的,(聲音)空洞的"等.
所以它作為洞的時(shí)候,更側(cè)重于"洞"的空間.
hole 作為動(dòng)詞時(shí),作為"鑿洞于,穿孔于".
它作為名詞,更側(cè)重于"貫穿",表面有"孔眼"
1,不能直接看見洞口的,和洞口小于洞內(nèi)的,一般用hollow
最典型的是,樹洞.如果樹洞的口朝上,人站在地上根本看不見的情況下,描述時(shí)要用hollow,因?yàn)檫@時(shí)說它有洞,指它被中空.
2,比較小的洞,貫穿的洞(兩頭都通了)時(shí),只能用hole
比如鉆孔,drill a hole,比較合適.
