rather的用法？
1、rather是程度副詞，用來(lái)修飾原級(jí)或比較級(jí)形容詞和副詞、動(dòng)詞、分詞或單數(shù)名詞，意思是“有些”“相當(dāng)”“多少地”，常用于負(fù)面含意。rather可和too連用，作程度狀語(yǔ)，但此時(shí)不可以修飾比較級(jí)。
2、rather用以減弱而不是加強(qiáng)其后所跟的詞或詞組的作用，如拒絕別人請(qǐng)求幫助時(shí)，顯得比較客氣，又如為了謙虛，可用這詞使自己在引人注目的場(chǎng)面表現(xiàn)得樂(lè)而不狂。
rather和pretty有什么區(qū)別？
rather意思: adv.相當(dāng),寧愿,有點(diǎn)兒;常與than連用，rather than為“而不是”的意思； pretty意思: adv.相當(dāng)?shù)? adj.漂亮的,秀麗的,好看的; vt.使漂亮; n.漂亮的。
